Foster-based rescue, run 100% by volunteers
Every schnauzer deserves a loving, forever home.
We rescue miniature schnauzers and schnauzer mixes and place them with families who suit them. Personal surrenders, neglected seniors and dogs pulled from shelters and puppy mills are all welcome here.

Three ways to bring a schnauzer home
We cannot do this alone. Whichever way you help, a dog gets closer to a family.

Who we are
Homeward Bound Schnauzer Rescue was created by a group of schnauzer lovers who saw the need. We are committed to our mission, to the dogs and to each other.
- A 501(c)(3) nonprofit since June 2016. Your donation is tax deductible.
- No paid employees. All money raised is used to rescue and re-home schnauzers.
- Serving the Mid-Atlantic. Delaware, Washington D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
Ready for home before they go home
Prior to adoption, each dog is spayed or neutered, updated on appropriate vaccinations and given the care needed to be adoptable. That has included surgery to remove bladder stones and stabilizing diabetes.
Seniors are never turned away. We place senior schnauzers into loving adoptive or hospice homes to live out their lives.

Happy Tails
We have so many happy tails to share. Meet some of our schnauzers and their new families.

All money donated goes directly to helping schnauzers.
Give by PayPal, Venmo or check, or make a tribute gift in honor or memory of a person or pet.
